Using Experiences with the Arts of Other Countries to Enhance Learning in the Chapter's International Program 

 

In a year when students in the chapter's international program chose Africa as their focus, during a special guided tour arranged by our chapter, a student in the international L.I.F.E. Program, standing in front of a work by El Anatsui, displayed his design based on those of the master artist who was born in Ghana and now lives and works in Nigeria.
 
 
 
              

As part of the guided tour of the Brooklyn Museum's exhibit of the art of renowned Ghanaian artist El Anatsui, a student in the international program read her poem which was inspired by her reactions to his spectacular works.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
                                              
 At the Brooklyn Museum's Al Anatsui exhibit, L.I.F.E students listened as a docent discussed the historical and cultural context for the Ghanaian artist's work.  
 
 
 
 
                                             

The year when students in the chapter's international program wanted to study China, to learn about the country's history and culture, the students toured the special exhibit. To learn about Chinese history and culture, the students toured the special exhibit "Chinese Art in the Age of Revolution, Fu Baoshi" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City where they visited the museum's Astor Court Chinese garden and courtyard.
